IBM's JRE 1.3.1 (as well as Sun's) doesn't support secure sockets. However, Sun has an extension API called JSSE (Java Secure Socket Extension) 1.0.3. This API has become part of JRE 1.4, but you will have to add it on yourself to the JRE in Domino. Like all extension API's simply place the jar files (there are three of them) in the notebin\jvm\lib\ext directory. The JRE will know how to find the classes. Please bear in mind we do not support this code and have never tested with it so I do not know if there are any problems or caveats in a Domino environment. But from the brief look I had of it, I don't see any immediate reason why it wouldn't work.
